Fuchur is the original name of the luck dragon in the “Never Ending Story”. Fuchur is optimistic, friendly, dignified, helpful and wise; a reminder that luck will find you when you never give up. This is at the core of Natalie’s life philosophy.
Natalie de Groote is the founder and guide of Fuchur Huskies .
Born and raised in Germany, Natalie has, from a very young age always loved nature and the outdoor life. After studying biology in university, she trained in classic homeopathic healing for animals, raised 4 children and owned an organic farm where she raised and kept cows, horses, chickens and goats for over 12 years. Apart from keeping her hands busy raising kids, she also milked goats and made artisanal cheese.
Natalie has been working with dogs and horses since she was 12 years old.
Another very important part of Natalie’s life is art. She has always taken on many art projects; from painting to handycrafts, from knitting and wool felting to carving, her hands are always busy.
In her quest to be closer to the wildness of nature, she decided to move in 2012 from her home in Germany to the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland. She took with her, her children, a dog and five horses. In this beautiful Taiga, she would be free to live life her own way and learn more outdoor skills.
For the past few years she has been running a small Siberian husky and Alaskan husky kennel with a total of 25 dogs.
The arctic lifestyle, the great outdoors and wonderful opportunities for dogsledding led her to northern Jämtland, where she currently resides in the beautiful village of Storåbränna. In close proximity to the mountains and a large nature reserve, Natalie is at home with her partner and children, dogs and horses.
In addition to her wealth of knowledge and skills, Natalie is also a certified in Wilderness First Aid.
